Earlier this week, I got extremely curious about the difference that make-up makes on my face and so I tried a little experiment. I made up one side and left the other totally natural. I’ve been under the influence of my beauty guru Suzanne and bought some new makeup (keep reading for that info). The picture below is totally unedited.

When I was in kindergarten, I got chicken pox (and scratched them in my sleep) and now I have almost 30 scars on my face. I used to be incredibly sensitive about it but now I’m proud to say they do not bother me at all. My mom told me that [when I was 5] I used to cry about “not being pretty anymore” after the chicken pox had their way with my face.
On the make-up’ed half of my face the scars are being disguised with concealer and foundation.
My brows are also in dire need of waxing but I disguised that with make up as well ![]()
My foundation is HD Invisible Cover Foundation by Make Up Forever. I bought it at Sephora after being really impressed by their $10 tube of HD Primer (can be found in the travel section at Sephora). The foundation is $40 but it should last about 6 months (when applied with a foundation brush). I LOVE how natural it looks, my skin looks like skin (just perfect airbrushed skin lol). I use HD Microfinish Powder to set the foundation.
Another product that I’m really impressed with at the moment is L’Oreal’s Voluminous mascara (the kind in the gold tube). It’s the best drugstore mascara I’ve ever used.
Anyhow, I love both sides of my face…I truly do. The make up does the work of concealing the cosmetic flaws but I think true beauty comes from being comfortable in your own skin (and if make up helps you do that more power to you!).
Share your favorite make up products with me in the comments (or we can just talk about my freaky looking face)!
P.S. Here is a video with my former beauty application regimen (it’s changed quite a bit since, hopefully I’ll have an updated one soon).
