The HP Byron Nelson is a golf tournament in the PGA Tour and my husband and I have gone every year for the past 5 years (since we’ve known each other). I don’t know about the dress code for regular golf tournaments but at the Nelson all the ladies wear sundresses–the place is literally a sundress fashion show and it’s very inspiring to just hang out and absorb all that style. There is just something about Dallas women.
I planned this outfit on the morning of because I wanted to wear this belt that I had just bought…
I honestly don’t know when the last time was that I bought a belt but I’m glad I did because it went really well with a dress that I had bought from Target in the summer of 2008 ![]()

- Chicago July 4, 2008 in my ruffled sundress
A few key accessories turned this dress into this…
Since this dress is so short, I did wear matching navy hot pants underneath. They were actually cheerleader bloomers from back in the day and you can find them at Academy (in the cheerleading or tennis section) for $5-ish dollars. Also notice that I’m not wearing a necklace because I felt the hat, earrings, fanny pack, belt, and bracelet were accessory enough ![]()
This is one of the most frugal ways to overhaul an outfit So go look through your closet and “play stylist” and figure out what you need to re-work an outfit for yourself! If you do, please send me pictures to info(at)charmedvalerie(dot)com or post to my facebook fan page and I’ll feature it on the blog.
This is also my entry for this week’s #GetYourVlogOn Wednesday with LizzieBTV.
